Life learning made practical
T
he day I met Romeo Dallaire for the first time after having read Shake Hands with the Devil was the day my perspective about my life purpose began to shift from one centred on me to one centred on the human venture.
My heart felt it first - the pain of realizing how much I had denied the reality of the human condition. It was easy to deny it. I was an A student, earned a full scholarship to university, found success as a software designer and volunteered my time in good causes. Society had effectively rewarded me for being a good person.
Then my consciousness and conscience caught up and realized that I lived my life comfortably according to the rules of society, but not according to the rules of life. If I truly wanted to make a difference, then what would it take? Is making a difference just doing something on the side to be helpful? Or should it be something that enlivens and enriches my whole life?
Today, I realize that in order to make a difference, I must understand myself and I must seek to understand the world I live in. And in this way, I seek to help others understand their world and understand themselves so that they too can contribute to life.
Are you interested in doing the same? Do want to look within and without to find the what it is that is meaningful and fulfilling? Give me a call sometime and let’s make life our playground.
Warmest regards,
